The Yolo County Taxpayers Association has unveiled its new Web site at www.yolotaxpayers.com. The new Web site is intended to communicate the benefits of public participation in public policy matters that effect local taxpayers and the quality of life in Yolo County. Web site visitors can also sign-up for electronic "Taxpayer Alerts" on critical issues that impact their pocket book.
"The way local government is conducting its public affairs today illustrates the need for greater government oversight," said Dudley Holman, president of YCTA. "Chronic budget deficits and risky land use policies are a threat to local taxpayers and critical public services such as education and public safety. Yolo County Taxpayers Association's Web site will assure taxpayers that someone is holding government accountable for the money it spends and the results it delivers."
The Web site provides features membership information, meeting dates and special events, a news room and a feature page on topics such as Conaway Ranch.
YCTA has been the leading critic of the county's decision to use eminent domain to acquire the 17,000-acre Conaway Ranch.
