Due to the vigilance of our membership, we discovered a
County plan to divert Indian tribal money and tobacco education funds from
the general fund to pay for the eminent domain actions. These funds pay for
emergency services, education and roads. Once YCTA brought this document to
the attention of the press, County Supervisors disclaimed any knowledge of
the document. Weeks later, they abandoned this funding scheme after the
County approved a 18-hole golf course for the gaming tribe and the tribe
announced that they would donate $60 million or more to the county’s eminent
domain proceedings.
